"one can find a new friend in strangest places and in the strangest situations, no matter who, or what they are... and once a friend is made, it could help you in your time of need..."- Polkintos village saying

(Narrators POV...)

Sadie walked down the long dark hallway alone, as Jonathan waited outside the hallway for her to return. After a few minutes of walking she sighed as she saw a bright light at the end of the hall when she walked through into the large circular room with torches on the  walls and was hit with the strong odor of smoke and very old pine trees. "I wonder if there is any smoke near the ceilings" she whispered to herself as she glanced up and saw that she couldn't see the ceiling, or anything really... just a black mass of darkness where the light from the torches couldn't reach. She looked around the room and saw 12 figures of varying ages in gray cloaks, with their cowl's shadowing their eyes, sitting in several old pinewood throne's. She felt the sudden urge to stop where she stood and to wait, so she did. 1 minute she waited, then 2, then 5, and soon she stood there in the doorway of the room for little over 15 minutes when finally the silence was broken by the voice of the middle most figure.
"Well now that you have stared at us for the past 15 minutes are you going to step forth, or stand there while we all go to our quarters?..." he asked, his voice gruff with old age as he spoke. Sadie quickly bowed in apology. "Sorry Sir, I thought I was to wait till you called me to come forth..." she said when the same figure held up a wrinkled hand and stopped her from continuing on, then gestured her to step into the center of the room as she obeyed and moved to where he pointed. "No need for excuses, Sadie" the figure spoke, "please, stand in the center." as Sadie stood still, and a little in shock, as she heard her name. "How do you know my name, sir?" She asked as the figure glanced around to the others, then to her and he spoke "We know more than just your name Sadie... and please, my name is Elsildor... I am the grand seer of the Great Foresights, and I speak for them to all who come before us... now, I hear you have killed a dragon yes?" he asked, a hint of question in his voice. Sadie hesitated, then in a weak voice answered "yes..." when Elsildor held his hand up to his ear and asked her "what was that?" while grinning slightly. Sadie straightened her back and in a firmer voice said "Yes. I did, sir." The figure flicked his wrinkled hand in the air as a gesture of dismissal as he spoke. "Please, Drop the formalities? It is rather annoying being called sir all the time..." he said with a hint of humor in his voice. Sadie didn't notice it though as she replied "Yes sir, sorry sir..." and she then realized what she just said and she responded weakly "sorry". Elsildor sighed and shook his head "Oh well, its not important, but what is important is one question... WHY did you kill that dragon?..." he leaned forwards as he awaited her reply. Sadie hesitated a little, then started to recall the events that had happened. "So you killed the dragon, revealing your Identity in the process, in order to save a few fellow classmates who you don't even know?... that is a very good reason." And Sadie looked at him with curious eyes. "Thank you... I think." She replied.
Elsildor said "So here is what will happen, We will channel our energy to read your future and give you a cryptic message, but you can only tell your closest friends it, and even then it is at your own risk, so you must swear that all that you hear will be to your ears only, but it is up to you to figure it out... is that understood?". The room was dead quiet as they all waited for Sadie's answer when she said "I Swear it." and the room seemed to become electric as all the Great Foresights rose and had become connected by a chain of light and there mouths all opened as they started to speak at once in unison...
    "In the age of new,
     In the land of old,
there is a fight of death,
     due to unfold.

A massive war at the most,
with death as its ghostly host,
     as a fight between man,
     dragon, drake, and beast,
     it is a civil war,
as death will raze and feast.

One who wears a dragons crown,
     encompassed by evil all around,
doomed to kill a friend and an enemy,
     to live forever happily."

The Great Foresights all returned to normal as the light faded and they all sat down again as Sadie stood in shock a she heard her prophecy. "Now that you have heard your prophecy... Welcome to the hunters! You will be assigned a mentor, at least partner to start, a room in the guild which you have been assigned, and you are to report to the armory first thing tomorrow to get your temporary equipment and to make a request for your custom armor and weapons at the forge... Oh, and a message will be sent to your teachers and to your home to inform your parents that you will be staying here at the guild's... after all, we can't have you go home to a knife in the back, can we?" Said Elsildor, chuckling to himself at his own joke. Sadie gulped nervously as she heard the last part, she turned to walk away when she heard "One more thing..." She turned around and Elsildor was standing and pointed his finger to a side door. "That way is the way to the guild... Oh, and before I forget, you are a member of the hunters Guild." he said to Sadie as she nodded and bowed in respect. "Thank you sir, I mean Elsildor..." she replied and scuttled hastily through the door as Elsildor turned to the others and said in a low voice "I like that one... she's well mannered."

Sadie passed through the door and was hit with a slight breeze and her eyes adjusted to allow her to see that she was in a courtyard the size of a football field, but there were stars above her head when she realized how long she had been in that room, and  the courtyard was deserted. she saw around the courtyard there were signs above the doors. One had a hammer and anvil, another had a sword and shield, one had a sign for currency, and on the far opposite of the courtyard was a sign that had a symbol of a bed over a long corridor. "I guess that means those are the quarters." Sadie muttered to herself as she walked down the hallway and she came to another large courtyard, this one's signs are images like a hooded figure, a blue star, a snake, a vial of a green colored liquid, and more... including one with a bow crossed with a dragons fang. "I'm going to assume that this is the hunters guild, because all the other signs don't seem to say 'hunter'" Sadie said as she opened the door and was hit with a wave of comforting heat and the sound of voices when her eyes adjusted and she saw a set of stairs reaching up to a brightly lit room. "Ok... here we go..." Sadie said as she took a deep breath and started up the stairs, but once she reached the top she heard some one call "Duck!" when Sadie felt something whiz past her head and soar down the stairs she just climbed up, glancing back in time to see a throwing knife skidding across the floor.

"Sorry... Stranger." said one boy. he was around the age of 9 and he had brown hair and green eyes, and his face was littered with freckles as Sadie saw the set of knives in his hand as the other 5 boys around him all had their head's hanging, and were wearing on them chest plates made of wood, obviously for knives to be thrown at them, ironically since none of them seemed to have been hit. "It's alright... is this the Hunters guild dorms?" they all look at each other and nod. "yes this is the dorms... are you the new hunter?" asked the boy as he looked at her with his head tilted in curiosity. "Yes... I'm Sadie" she said walking forwards and holding out her hand to shake. "I'm Simon... but everyone calls me S." He shook her hand and suddenly a familiar voice rang around the room; "S!... Why Did You Stop Training?!? How are you going to pass your knife throwing test if you don't practice!". Simon looked upwards to reply and Sadie looked up as well to see that the entire room was lined with beds, doors, hammocks, and overhanging perches all the way up to the high ceiling at many different levels... but what interested Sadie the most was that there were almost no stairs or ladders at all, instead there were rope's, rope nets, climbing mounts, rock wall patches, and even a lift on the far wall that was currently on the top floor... and it was then that she noticed that a majority of the rooms floor was padded with mattresses."Right...Sorry Jonathan..." replied the boy. Sadie's eyes widened a little as she heard a familiar name. "Jonathan?!? Is that really you?" Sadie called up as a figure jumped from the top lift and grabbed a line and slide down halfway before jumping off to grab another line to slide down, then jumping off and somersaulting to land on his feet directly in front of Sadie and with a soft thud as there before her stood Jonathan, in a simple Tank top and cargo shorts... but was wearing padded leather gloves and had his trusty saber Mythranadrial at his side in its scabbard. "Hello Sadie... I take it your meeting went well?..." He asked... but the only reply he got was a deep hug from Sadie. "You don't know how nervous I was..." she exclaimed as he held her in his embrace, and him in hers when their display of mutual affection was cut off by Simon's next sentence; "Wait... YOU TWO KNOW EACH OTHER!?!"

Sadie and Jonathan stepped away from each other and he turned to Simon. "well... we are close friends and we both had gone to the same school... so yeah, we know each other." Jonathan replied casually as all the other boys currently on the ground floor around them starred at them in awe. "Um... Jonathan, I'm feeling a little bit uncomfortable with everyone here starring at us..." Sadie said sheepishly when all the other boys backed up and stopped starring at them. "Sorry Sadie... its just... your so lucky that you are friends with... well... with Jonathan!" Exclaimed one of the other boys. "Yeah!... He is the one of the best hunters" Chimed another. "Come on guys... I'm not that great..." Jonathan said to them when they all turned to each other and chimed in unison "But You ARE!!!" and they all doubled over laughing when Jonathan said to Simon "I'm going to go and take Sadie to her room... keep training!". "Yes sir Jonathan!" Simon called back and ran to the other boys as Jonathan turned to Sadie. "So have you decided on where you want to sleep?... the middle tier is where I sleep, and is preferred... because the bottom tier gets very cold and top tier very hot..." he asked her and she pointed to the middle tier... specifically a red door on a moderate sized overhang. "Is that one taken?..." she asked and she chuckled slightly as she saw Jonathan's cheeks turn red. "That's... er... that's my dorm... b-but I do have 4 other empty bunks inside though..." He stammered and Sadie couldn't help herself anymore... she bursted out laughing and nearly fell over. "Jonathan... you are so cute when your embarrassed, you know that?" She said and she looked at the door and her expression changed to that of confusion. "Um... how do you get up there besides the lift?" she asked when Jonathan looked at her with a smirk. "I thought you'd never ask?... we do this!" Jonathan replied as he sprang forward into a sprint, jumping onto and swarming up a rock wall, and then jumping to another wall, and then jumping onto the ledge and he stood there panting in exhaustion. "well... give it a shot!" he called down to her and she started to climb up the wall... ten minutes later she was climbing onto the overhang and was panting exhausted as Jonathan stood over her with his hands on his knees, looking at her with a smirk.

"Fun right?" Jonathan said as Sadie flayed herself out on the overhang exhausted. "So help me Jonathan I will throw you over this ledge... as soon as I get back my energy..." She said to him as he laughed and turned to open the door behind them. "Hehe... it's good to have you here Sadie..." the door clicked and slowly creaked open loudly as Sadie slowly got up and stepped inside. It looked rather nice for a dorm in Sadie's opinion. It was a simple room, with several beds arranged around the perimeter of the room and the walls had a nice forest decal and it seemed to bring the entire room a feeling of comfort. Sadie walks over to one of the bunks, but stops when she see's a bag sitting on the bed as Jonathan says " That bunk belongs to S... the others are not taken though.". Sadie walks to another bunk and puts down her sword and her pack. She sighs as she lays down on the bed. When Jonathan calls to her from a back room "Practice Weapons are in the back closet, bathrooms are on the right, and we rise early in the morning... Goodnight Sadie, and see you in the morning...".  Sadie sat up and she took off her shirt and pants and put on her sleep attire as she layed down on the bed and tried to fall to sleep, and after minutes of tossing around she eventually fell into a restless sleep.

She was standing in front of herself, watching tears start to pour out of her eyes as she held a bloody sword over a dark figure, the image shifts to her wearing a crown on a throne, then to a Jonathan crying over a gravestone, and she can't seem to wake up from this nightmare when the image shifts to that of a dragon she, or anyone, had never seen before. As she was taken closer by some unseen force she saw its eyes when she woke with a start... and a hand that wasn't her own covering her mouth.
